Well, after short Christmas break La Liga continues and there are some interesting matches in front of us this weekend.

Starting in Barcelona, Espanyol is opening second part of the season against Deportivo.

Following tomorrow:

Real Madrid – Granada

Eibar – Atletico Madrid

Las Palmas – Sporting Gijon

Real Sociedad  РSevilla

La Liga continues on Sunday with following games:

Athletico Bilbao – Alaves

Real Betis – Leganes

Celta – Malaga

Villarreal –¬† Barcelona

And closing on Monday with game Osasuna – Valencia.

According to ESPN FC Diego Simeone, Atletico Madrid coach, has said he hopes to see further evidence that his team is back to their old selves in Saturday afternoon’s La Liga trip to Eibar. Atletico has won just two of their last six La Liga games, slipping to sixth in the table.

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane says their team captain and main star Cristiano Ronaldo has no problem with being rested and added that his rotation policy will continue as the club challenge on all fronts over the coming months. Zidane rested Ronaldo for Wednesday’s 3-0 Copa del Rey win over Sevilla and has left him out on five occasions this season while substituting him on four other occasions.

Pep Guardiola has closed the door on a return to Barcelona, saying he will never become the Catalan club’s president.

FIFA’s Best Men’s Player award is coming on 9th of January in Zurich. Barcelona forward Messi, Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann are on the three-man shortlist for the vote which will be made by football writers, fans and the coaches and captains of the national teams while Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero backs Argentina teammate Lionel Messi to win.

Osasuna has sacked head coach Joaquin Caparros just two months into his reign. Caparros had only been in charge since November last year when he succeeded Enrique Martin after a poor start to the season. Newly appointed sporting director is Petar Vasiljevic until the end of the season.
